Captain Krissi, a North Carolina native, grew up navigating the state’s waterways and has dedicated her career to making boating accessible to all. With a background in Marine Technology and hands-on experience as a captain, she specializes in teaching others how to confidently pilot a boat. Through Carolina Salt Custom Charters, she creates a welcoming environment where anyone can learn the skills to navigate the water safely and enjoyably.

How much?
$85/hr on your boat.

Do I need insurance for lessons on my boat?
Yes you will need proof of insurance to book lessons on your boat.
I used to boat on lakes all the time, do I really need lessons?
Most likely. Conditions in North Carolina’s coastal waters vary wildly from the rivers and the lakes that you’re used to.
How old do you have to be to take lessons?
NC requires a person to be 14 years of age to operate a personal watercraft.
Will I get a boating license?
No, this is active hands on training which is separate from your NC boating license which you can attain online.
Can you help me learn to back a trailer?
YES!
Can I do a lesson with a friend?
Yes, absolutely! The price remains the same for up to two students, after that the price will be $25 more per student per hour. Max of 4 students at any time.
Can I do a lesson and a charter hybrid?
Totally, that’s why custom is in the name!
Can my kids come along on a lesson?
Yes, we are very kid friendly. You’re welcome to bring kids along as long as they can handle themselves while you learn. If they aren’t participating in the lesson there is no extra charge.
